ANNELIESE AND JAKE
Anneliese Meywes
Having been brought up in a musical family, Anneliese sang along to all of the Disney tunes until the age of 13, when she was inspired to write her own songs. It was at this time she started singing with her brother Jake who was already performing at the age of 10. She wrote songs for herself and the both of them which they performed as a duo at eisteddfods, churches, Morning Melodies, clubs and weddings.
Anneliese continues to compose her own songs, accompanies herself on the piano and now produces many of her own arrangements as well as co writes alongside other artists/producers. She has now composed over 40 songs, many of which have been recorded on two albums she and her brother Jake have made under the name “Inspired” (2005)and “Twice Inspired”(2006).
At 15 years of age, she travelled with Jake to New Zealand on a two week singing tour to launch their second album, closely followed by two trips to Fiji to sing and touch people’s hearts with her amazing song writing ability and angelic voice.
Anneliese lives and breathes music, practising for hours a day, she has recently recorded several songs with Jake once again and after chronic fatigue and a tonsillectomy mid 2008 has just completed an amazing 6 week trip to USA singing at many churches, performing in L.A at conferences and learning more about singing and songwriting under the expert guidance of Seth Riggs “vocal coach of the Stars”.
Anneliese has recently had the amazing honour of her own composition being used for the, “CCIA” (Childrens Cancer institute of Australia) promotion for 2009.
As a duo they are in constant demand from the corporate sector for their uplifting, inspirational songs, many of which Anneliese has written. Another huge part of their music is performing for churches and youth events through many different genre's of music from Jazz, Pop Opera, R&B, Reggae and more. When they are not at their home on the Gold Coast, they are touring nationally and internationally and collaborating with other artists, to take their music ministry to new levels.
Jake Meywes
Jake started singing at a very young age. Throughout his school years he was the lead role in musicals, and competitions which gave him the confidence to start performing.
He was selected for Gondwana Voices in October 2004 and was then given a role with Opera Queensland in “La Boheme” at the Lyric Theatre at only 11 years of age.
Jake’s voice changed from a beautiful boy soprano to a wonderful, rich baritone during this time which was a huge change. He continued with classical voice training and was selected as the winner of the Queensland Junior Idol competition which was televised and went on the finals with the three judges, Mark, Kyle and Marcia.
His powerful voice led Marcia Hines to encourage Jake to follow his singing and likened his voice to that of Bocelli's.
His third television appearance at 12 years old was on Friday Night Games where he had a “sing off” against celebrities on the show. The remainder of the year he worked hard as the Beast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast whilst still at school.
Home schooling for three years allowed Jake to travel with Anneliese to Fiji and New Zealand to launch their first two albums and to do local performances on the Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne for various functions and events.
Jake’s voice continues to power on as he has such versatility in his performance style. from swing/ jazz to pop-opera and classical he has mastered all styles and was honoured recently to perform on the opening night in Hollywood for the vocal conference where producers, singers and stars from around the globe gathered to hear the chosen performers on this night. Jake performed several times later during the week and had the opportunity to work with Seth Riggs, vocal coach for Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, Philip Webb, Barbara Streisand, Luthor Vandross, Michael Jackson and many many more. Jake continues to travel and perform frequently with Anneliese and looks forward to the bright future ahead.
